DISTRICT VOLUNTEERS:  If you are a unit leader of any kind and are preparing to step aside from your current position and you are wondering what you can do now instead of fading away. Come join the district committee. We have positions available and the best part is you can still see your friends, work with the scouts, go camping if you wish or not, and keep your mind and body involved in the greatest youth organization in the world. Oh and one other thing we are going to be 100 years old in 2010 and I am sure you want to be at that birthday party. Call the district Chairman Brad Brown at 912.266.0782 for a future at the district committee.

End of the Scout Year:  As we wind down on another successful scout year I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your involvement in the largest youth organization in America. Without the countless volunteers this program would not be as successful as it is yet we do have a lot of room to grow and get better. Changes are coming and we need to work with the changes as they are intended to keep the BSA relevant and at the same time not to change our core values.

Enjoy your summer, start planning your new year and let's hit the ground running when we begin our school rallies. Set your goals at manageable levels so all the units can be a quality unit this year and Train, Train and train again.

BIG THANKS!!

To all of the people who helped out and volunteered for Cub Scout Day Camp. The camp was a huge success and the scouts had a wonderful time!

In case you haven't heard, District Executive Jim Bryant is moving on to a new Council.  He has taken a position as SENIOR District Exec in the Mobile Area Council.  His last day in Osprey District will be June 30th.  He is leaving the District in the capable hands of a lot of knowledgeable and dedicated folks who love Scouting.

POPCORN!  Believe it or not, our fall popcorn sale is right around the corner.  Time to take a look at your numbers from last year and start to work on a strategy to do better this year.  Primarily, each unit needs a Unit Kernel - should be someone with a lot of enthusiasm and large capacity vehicle!  The Council is planning a HUGE kick-off on August 10th (just before school starts in Camden).  If your unit wants the extra 5% in commission, be sure you plan to send someone.

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER...STAY SAFE OUT THERE!!

DAY CAMP WAS AWESOME!!

Thank you volunteers for all of your hard work and for your commitment to the Cub Scout program.  The boys and girls, had a great time at the camp.  We are proud of our scouts for learning more about our world and our solar system.  We look forward to another great camp next year!

POPCORN! POPCORN! POPCORN!

You got it, its that time again. We will be holding our council-wide popcorn kickoff on August 10.  The program will be held at the LDS church in Brunswick, contact the office for more details. All unit leaders are encouraged to come and learn about this year's campaign and start the sell off right.  Popcorn sales will fund each unit to allow them to plan for the whole year.  Please call Randy Buck 912 -614-7575 if you have any questions.
