How to make Popcorn Sales Work !!!

Popcorn Home Sales Planning Qs & As

Each district will have a District Popcorn Kernel, advised by the Council Popcorn Kernel and their District Executive to help make each unit's sale successful. The idea is to have this one fall fund-raiser support the entire year of Scouting.

The best way to sell popcorn is to have a plan and stick to it!
  1. Plan out the year ahead and set a unit budget. Year in Scouting Plan Unit Annual Activity Planner.
  2. Set sales goals for the unit, Scouts and families.
  3. Establish a Scout Accounts that helps each Scout and family with their Scouting expenses.
  4. Hold a unit program kickoff to tell the Scouts and parents about the great year planned.
  5. Sell popcorn: take-order, show and sell, and show and deliver.
  6. Scouts continue until their goal was met (usually 3 or 4 afternoons or weekend days).

Unit leaders will receive full materials and information in July. Complete prize brochures, take order forms and more information will be mailed to all registered youth in August and passed out to new youth during Race to Scouting Roundups.

The Fall 2008 Popcorn sale will have 2 unit pick-up dates. This is an approved official council unit money-earning project that many packs and troops participate in each year. Complete information will be found in the 2008 POPCORN UNIT LEADER'S GUIDE BOOK, which will be distributed to each pack and troop in the council by mail or pick up at roundtables.

Additional special prizes for Scouts include Weekly Prize Drawings, Summer Waves Water Park Tickets, a Wii Game Station, a Play Station 3 and FUN at Universal at Orlando, FL.
